Terms and Conditions

The Club shall be called the “Newmarket Cricket Club” and shall play under the laws of the MCC. The colours of the Club shall be Red and Black. The Headquarters of the Club shall be: The Severals Sports Ground, 2-4 Bury Road, Newmarket, Suffolk, CB8 7BP


(a) to promote, organise and encourage participation within amateur cricket in the Newmarket area.

(b) to become a sustainable, integral and proactive cricket club for the community.

(c) to provide club premises, equipment and refreshments for members.

(d) to organise throughout the year social functions as the club may consider preferable.

(e) to provide cricket to all ages, abilities and genders in a safe environment.


(a) Membership of Newmarket Cricket Club shall be open to anyone interested in the sport from playing, volunteering or supporting on application regardless of sex, age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or other beliefs.

(b) Newmarket Cricket Club may have different classes of membership and subscription on a non-discriminatory and fair basis which means the club will manage to keep subscriptions at levels that will not pose a significant obstacle to people participating.

(c) Newmarket Cricket Club have the right to refuse membership, or remove it, only for good cause such as conduct or character likely to bring the club or sport into disrepute.

(d) Members or prospective members have a right of appeal against non-renewal or refusal of membership, we would require this in writing to: and a response will be issued within 30 days.

(e) Newmarket Cricket Club has a disciplinary code, which is approved and may be amended from time to time.

(f) Newmarket Cricket Club will have due regard to the law on disability discrimination and child protection. The club will ensure a duty of care to all members of the club by adopting and implementing the ECB ‘Safe Hands – Welfare of Young People in Cricket’ policy and any future versions of the policy.


Anyone interested in joining the club as a playing member must complete the online form in the join us section of the website and then we will make contact and send you an application form which must be completed and returned.


Anyone desiring to join the club as a Non-Playing Member may do so by writing to us via email: which will then be approved by the Chairman.

No Non-Member or Non-Playing Member shall be invited to take part in any match except in the event of an insufficient number of club members being available however always subject to league or competition rules.


Any member of the club not in arrears may become a Life Member on payment of 10 times his annual subscription.


The Annual Subscriptions, which must be paid before the 1st May in each season. If any member’s subscription is in arrears his membership may be temporarily suspended until this has been cleared.


If, in the opinion of the General Committee, the conduct of any Member is thought to be damaging to the interests of the club, the Hon Secretary shall communicate with such Member so that they may have the option of offering an explanation or withdrawing from the Club. The reply will be communicated to a meeting of the Committee called to deal with the matter and notice of such meeting shall be given to the Member in question, who may attend. If two-thirds of the members of the Committee present agree that such Member should be expelled, written notice shall forthwith be given to the Member by the Hon Secretary, who shall cease thereupon to be a Member (subject to having the right to appeal against such expulsion).


All complaints shall be made in writing to the Hon Secretary:


Each player taking part in a match shall pay a Match Fee, the amount to be decided annually by the General Committee.


Any addition or alteration to the Rules can only be made at a General Meeting of Members. Not less than 28 days’ notice of such proposed addition or alteration must be given to the Hon Secretary in writing, who shall incorporate the proposal in the Agenda and notice of the Meeting to be sent to Members not less than 10 days before the date of such Meeting.

Newmarket Cricket Club reserve the right to add, change and amend these Terms And Conditions without prior notice.
